Rohde & Schwarz introduces two L-band transmitters for full coverage of TV and audio broadcasting frequency ranges

Sep 23, 2010 - Two new L-band transmitters have been added to the R&S^®SCx8000 family of low- and medium-power transmitters from Rohde & Schwarz to cover all broadcasting frequency ranges. The R&S^®SCQ8000 TV transmitter achieves output powers of 300 W and 1200 W for DVB-T, DVB-H and MediaFLOTM, while the R&S^®SCL8000 attains powers of 400 W and 1500 W for DAB, DAB+ and T-DMB. Featuring an efficiency of up to 22 percent even in the L-band, these transmitters, the most compact and cost-effective in their class, can considerably reduce operating costs.

Measuring just four height units, these transmitters, the most compact on the market, allow network operators to set up a complete 300 W DVB/MediaFLOTM or 400 W DAB/T-DMB transmitter. Output powers of 1200 W and 1500 W can be implemented in only 19 height units with four amplifiers, one control unit and one exciter. In the four-amplifier solution, coupler, splitter, harmonics filter and lightning protection are integrated in a single unit. The amplifiers are equipped as standard with two power supplies. An optional third power supply can be integrated as well to enable network operators to increase availability.

All transmitters are quick and easy to put into operation. In the four-amplifier solution, the amplifiers are inserted into the rack and are immediately ready for operation, without time having to be spent on wiring. The transmitter featuring one amplifier uses the exciter also as a transmitter control unit, which helps to reduce cabling requirements.
