Rohde & Schwarz on course with 60 GHz developments in WiGig Alliance, WiHD and IEEE

Jun 17, 2010 - Rohde & Schwarz is fully committed to the 60 GHz technology and offers a wide range of unique test solutions for the upcoming new standards.

Short-range communications applications that demand high data rates – such as data transfer and uncompressed audio and video (A/V) transmissions – are the driving force behind the ongoing 60 GHz development activities. Various standardization bodies are currently working on specifications targeting the 7 GHz of bandwidth available in the 60 GHz unlicensed band. Rohde & Schwarz, which is a member of major standardization bodies such as the Wireless Gigabit Alliance (WiGig Alliance), WirelessHD (WiHD) and IEEE, is in step with the latest developments of these new standards.

Rohde & Schwarz has many years of experience in microwave technology. The company’s T&M equipment generates and analyzes to the highest accuracy – quickly, reliably and with high quality. The R&S®FSU67 spectrum analyzer, featuring a wide direct frequency range from 20 Hz to 67 GHz, and the R&S®ZVA67 vector network analyzer, so far the only four-port vector network analyzer up to 67 GHz, are ideally suited for all millimeter wave test needs. The frequency range of the spectrum analyzers and network analyzers can be extended to over 300 GHz by adding the R&S®FS Z60/90/110 external mixers and R&S®ZVA-Z75/110/325 frequency converters, respectively.

The unique R&S®NRP-Z57 thermal power sensor achieves highly accurate and continuous measurements of average power from DC up to 67 GHz. The innovative microwave solutions from Rohde & Schwarz support every step of the way from R&D to certification, production and service.
